From Scotland, having made Winnipeg my home since 1997, this City of over 800,000, and the broader Province of Manitoba, offers an exceptional quality of life. What I do have is perspective of moving from another country to Canada, settling here and opening businesses here.
"In order to live in the kind of society you want, you have to help build it". There is a need for more medical professionals and as citizen and not a medical professional it just makes sense that more of us can help spread the word about our wonderful City and Province. When we moved to Winnipeg, our children were under 10. Oh yes, I have been a patient and been well cared for on 2 occasions with a carotid endarterectomy in 2020 at HSC and a CABG X4 at St Boniface Hospital in 2021. Both operations and care were covered by Manitoba Health. In Manitoba, medically necessary services are covered through Manitoba Health, which is funded by taxpayers. There are no direct bills for these medically necessary services. Patients don’t receive itemized charges for surgery, anesthesia, hospital rooms, or nursing care. Think of it this way. When recovering, all you think about is recovering without thinking about how do you pay your health provider.
